This may be enough to scare you off online dating. Jacqueline Ades met a man on Luxy, an online dating app that calls itself the “leading luxury millionaire dating app for wealthy, successful, beautiful and attractive men and women.” After only one date, Ades repeatedly sent unsolicited texts. 159,000 of them, some of which were physically threatening, and often totally over 500 per day. 

Modern-Day Fatal Attraction

The texts continued for ten months until Ades was arrested for trespassing inside the man’s home while he was out of the country in April of 2018. Ades was arrested on stalking and criminal trespassing charges. Upon arrest, officers found a large butcher knife on the passenger seat of the car. According to the arrest report, police claim she appeared mentally disturbed, and that she “stated she would kill victim if he left her, stated she could cut victim up and wear his body parts”. For some reason, she was released, but failed to appear at her hearing, and continued to text the man. This finally ended when she was jailed on a bench warrant, and her phone confiscated.

Some People Know No Boundaries

Ades admits some of her texts were over-the-top. Most would be inclined to agree with her. According to the trespassing arrest report, one text read “I’d make sushi outta ur kidneys n chopsticks outta ur hand bones.” Another read “Oh what I’d do with ur blood. I’d bathe in it!” Some of the texts might even elevate to antisemitic hate speech. But apparently she thought that if she sent enough texts, sooner or later he would respond. According to Ades, “If you give and don’t stop giving even if you don’t receive, you all of the sudden receive a lot,” she said in a press conference in May. Her trial is set to begin February 5th.
