The MLB is joining its major sports league peers by preparing to unveil a new sexual orientation discrimination and harassment policy during the league’s All-Star Game on Tuesday. New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman helped Major League Baseball (MLB) draft the new sexual orientation policy, calling it a “clear stand against discrimination,” reports The Associated Press. Although MLB already has a non-discrimination policy, this new policy will specifically include sexual orientation in a bid to include gay athletes....

The NFL will settle with more than 4,500 former players who accused the league of covering up the dangers of concussions – injuries that allegedly led to serious brain injuries. The proposed $765 million settlement still needs to be approved by federal Judge Anita B. Brody, reports The Associated Press. But once approved, the deal may serve to silence some of the criticism against the National Football League. Judge Brody said Thursday that the retired athletes and their families had reached a settlement deal with the NFL....

A state appeals court ruled that a utility company was not immune from liability for injuries to a boy who was severely injured when a tree fell on him at a campground. The California First District Court of Appeal said a statute that immunizes property owners from liability to recreational users did not apply to Pacific Gas and Electric Company. The statute includes an exception when people pay to use the property, which happened when the 12-year-old boy and his family paid the campground fee....

California’s attorney general is appealing a court decision that struck down the state’s assisted-suicide law. Attorney General Xavier Becerra filed the appeal after a Riverside judge ruled the law was unconstitutional. Judge Daniel Ottolia said legislators wrongly passed the law in a special session dedicated to healthcare. The law, also known as the “right-to-die,” has been controversial since California approved it three years ago. Its fate is now in the hands of judges at the Fourth District Court of Appeal....

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. scored a victory in the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals after it ruled a rival company cannot produce generic copies of one of its drugs until 2019. Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. sought to sell a generic copy of Cephalon’s (Teva’s recent $6 billion acquisition) drug Fentora. The fast-dissolving painkiller, used to relieve episodes of cancer pain in adults already taking opioids, reportedly generated $81 million for Cephalon in the first half of 2011....

More woe for the Cleveland Browns? It could be coming from a courthouse this time. Former wideout Joe Jurevicius is suing the Browns and the Cleveland Clinic alleging that the team “misrepresented the cleanliness of its training facility”, and that he contracted a staph infection in his knee. According to Jurevicius, he should have been warned that therapy equipment wasn’t always sanitized at the team’s training facility. OK, before anyone discounts Jurevicius’s claims as the stuff of a jilted former teammate (he was released by the Browns in March), let’s take a look at some cold, hard, unsanitized numbers....

A Toronto couple was arrested for subway sex in an incident that brings exhibitionism to a whole new level. The couple was first caught having sex on the subway train. They were bumped off the train car after another passenger reported them. The couple was left at the next train station. Instead of going home, they apparently decided that they still hadn’t had enough of each other. All of this took place in the middle of the day at around 2:30 p....

The Theranos debacle abruptly shot the company in the foot and into the spotlight all at the same time. As the story has developed over the past couple years, quite a few details have emerged about the SEC’s charge of massive fraud against the company, it’s CEO Elizabeth Holmes, and president Sunny Balwani. Recently, SEC announced that it has reached a settlement as to Theranos and Holmes, but is still pursuing Balwani....

A diaper-wearing Oklahoma man conned babysitters into changing his diaper for sexual gratification. Police say Mark Anthony Richardson Jr., 21, concocted a perverse sexual scheme to get young girls to babysit him and change his diaper. The bizarre arrangement usually left Richardson aroused when getting his diaper changed. However the babysitters thought that was part of his condition and that he simply lacked awareness of what he was doing. Autism is a developmental disorder that affects the brain’s normal development and social communications skills....

The bar exam sucks. But you know what sucks almost as much? Filling out the application for the bar exam. Arizona State University’s new Sanda Day O’Connor College of Law building is scheduled to be unveiled in just a few short days but if the pictures are any indication, it’s going to be a cross between a law school and a community hangout. In a 42 U.S.C. section 1983 action claiming that Defendant state medical board personnel wrongfully investigated Plaintiff-Physician’s recommendation of medical marijuana to a patient, the dismissal of the action is affirmed, where Plaintiff’s claims were barred by qualified immunity because he alleged no facts that a reasonable public official would have believed that issuance of the administrative subpoena under the facts presented violated a clearly established statutory or constitutional right....

There is something about Walmart that seems to bring out the weirdest in people. Maybe Walmart itself is not to blame.
