Jason “Mayhem” Miller was arrested after police found him naked inside a Southern California Church.
A pastor at the Mission Viejo Church called authorities when he suspected there was break-in at the church. The pastor had found books and CDs strewn about, white powder on the floors, and missing boards from a previously broken window, reports The Associated Press.
When police arrived, they discovered the popular MMA fighter and host of MTV’s “Bully Beatdown” naked on a couch.
In California, burglary is generally considered a felony and someone convicted of the crime can face up to six years in jail.
However, to be convicted of the crime, the suspect typically needs to have intent to break into a dwelling (or church) and commit a larceny or other felony inside. An intent to commit the felony is enough; a burglar doesn’t have to actually steal anything.
With Miller, prosecutors could have a hard time proving that the affable fighter intended to commit a larceny or other felony after breaking into the church. Instead, it’s more likely that Miller would be convicted of a lesser charge like vandalism or trespassing where he would face a maximum one-year prison sentence.
Even before Jason “Mayhem” Miller’s naked church arrest, he had been on a downward spiral. He lost his most recent fight and vowed to retire from fighting. As he faces the possibility of serious jail time, we may have seen the last of Miller in the octagon.
