Don’t try to understand this story. I don’t have the answers and after reading this, neither will you.
It goes something like this: Daniela Gaskie (now former) Miss Kentucky Latina, allegedly beat up a woman and stabbed a man in the neck with a ball-point pen. Gaskie, 22, was arrested in Richmond, after the violent attacks on a gas station attendant and a pharmacist.
According to police, Gaskie became enraged at a gas station attendant and then stabbed him in the neck with a pen. She then ran across the street to a drug store where she attacked the vehicle of Mary Ann McKinney, a pharmacist at the drug store.
McKinney walked out of the store and told Gaskie that she had the wrong car. According to McKinney, Gaskie answered in an explicit way and then attacked McKinney, scratching and kicking her, as well as tearing off her glasses, and hitting her lip and head.
Assault is a crime that comes up often here at Legally Weird. Historically speaking, an assault exists when one creates the reasonable apprehension of imminent bodily harm or offensive contact. Some states have merged assault and battery into the same crime, or simply define it an an attempted battery. Either way, it is considered a serious crime.
The Miss U.S. Latina organization took back the crown from Gaskie on Tuesday in light of the alleged attack.
