Convicted thief, Anthony Williams seems to have taken Taco Bell’s company slogan to a whole other level.
He was arrested after authorities say he tried to sell a police scanner radio to customers at a Taco Bell drive-through, the Trentonian reports.
Police say a video shows Williams attempting to get into the police station, but being turned away.
Later, police say the 41-year-old man sneaked into police headquarters and allegedly stole a police radio, a computer monitor and a sergeant’s attache case.
When the radio broadcasted on channel 1, the main police frequency, police realized the device was missing.
Williams pushed the radio into the open window of a vehicle in the Taco Bell line, police said. They said he allegedly made several attempts to sell the police radio.
Also, one customer snatched the radio off Williams and called 911, police said.
Several officers have said security is a major concern at the Trenton police headquarters. If unaddressed, there is potential for a much more serious situation that burglary.
According to reports, Williams’ New Jersey Department of Corrections record shows his first incarceration came in 1988 for burglary and robbery.
This time Williams was busted and charged with several violations, including theft and hindering apprehension.
In general under New Jersey hindering law, a person commits an offense if, with purpose to hinder the detention, apprehension, investigation, prosecution, conviction or punishment of another for an offense or violation.
